Albion Engineering 640-5 Backer Rod Insertion Tool is a highly recommended product. It comes with a 1/4" wheel that can be replaced with a 1/8" wheel for very narrow grooves. The users can replace the wheels if necessary. It also works fine with 3/8" backer rod from any manufacturer. However, it doesn't fit well in corners. The two wheels on the sides don't adjust, only the center adjusts. The product has received mixed reviews but most people are satisfied with it. Some users claim that the backer rod insertion tool works as advertised and makes the job faster. The tool is gentle on the wires and having different size wheels for different cuts is very helpful.
