The Dumonde Tech Freehub Oil is a lightweight lubricant formulated for Shimano, Mavic and similar click pawl freehub bodies. It can be applied to the bearings and click mechanisms in the freehub. While the product works well for i9, Hydra and torch hubs, it may not work for vintage or 3-speed hubs. Moreover, it is not recommended for use in DT Swiss ratchet systems. The product can either make the freehub louder or quieter depending on whether it is used in oil or grease form. The lubricant needs to be applied with finesse, and a video is available for reference. Although the product may leak in transit, it typically lasts long and can oil many freehubs. The oil needs to be replaced when it turns black, which can happen even after five short rides. The lubricant can improve clicking, free spinning and reduce pedal drag.
