Celestron Telescopes Editorial Review
The Celestron PowerSeeker 80 EQ Telescope is a great value for money refractor telescope with an adequate GEM but low cost/no quality accessories. While the included eyepieces are low quality, the rack-and-pinion focuser is smooth and good quality Plossl eyepieces improve the views tremendously. The 3x Barlow and plastic ovals in the front of the mount are both inferior and should be replaced or modified for better stability. The instruction book is good but additional research on polar alignment may be required. The telescope shines when viewing planets and brighter Messier objects, making it a popular choice for public star parties. The tripod is very light and may require additional weight for stability. Overall, it is a quality piece for beginners or novice users willing to invest some time into learning about its operation and calibration.
