The Iliad in Graphic Novel form by Gareth Hinds has been highly praised for its beautiful illustrations and faithful retelling of the epic Trojan War tale. The author's use of unique helmets and shields to help the reader distinguish between each hero, as well as the distinct coloring of each god and goddess, has been well received. The graphic novel remains faithful to mythology and Greek tradition, keeping the gods as active figures. There are helpful footnotes and a page-by-page guide to the background and history of the Homeric traditions. Overall, it is seen as an excellent resource for middle and high school global history teachers, but casual readers wanting an introduction to classical Greek mythology will also appreciate it.
